Tommi Pisto, M.Sc. (Biochemistry), Co-Founder, CEO and Technology specialist

 

Tommi Pisto is an IT professional with strong track record in developing software to biopharmaceutical and healthcare companies. Prior to co-founding MediSapiens, Pisto was a Research Scientist at VTT responsible for management of the projects for global pharma customers, and held a central role in the development of MediSapiens core product. Before VTT, he worked as a researcher in Cancer Gene Therapy Group (CGTG) at the University of Helsinki, which is amongst the leading research groups worldwide studying oncolytic viruses, and as a Software Engineer for CRF Health, a leading electronic Patient Reported Outcomes technology and services provider for clinical trials.

 

 

Sami Kilpinen, PhD, Co-Founder, CSO and Bioinformatician

 

Sami Kilpinen is a bioinformatician with over 9 years of expertice in genetics, cancer research and scientific computing in an interdisciplinary environment. Previously Kilpinen has participated in academic research projects in Biomedicum Biochip Center, VTT/Medical Biotechnology and the Academy of Finland Centre of Excellence in Translational Genome-Scale Biology program. He is also a bioinformatician at the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM) and has also worked as a bioinformatics advisor for the PamGene Corporation (Netherlands).

 

 

Professor Olli Kallioniemi, MD, PhD, Professor, Co-Founder and Science Advisor

 

Dr. Kallioniemi is currently Professor and Director of the Institute for Molecular Medicine Finland (FIMM) at the University of Helsinki (a Molecular Medicine Partnership with EMBL) as well as Director of the Academy of Finland Centre of Excellence in Translational Genome-Scale Biology at the VTT Technical Research Centre of Finland. He has held several positions internationally, including the Head of Translational Genomics Section at the Cancer Genetics Branch, National Human Genome Research Institute, at NIH.

 

 

Timo Ahopelto, Strategy and Business Development

 

Timo Ahopelto is a diverse serial entrepreneur with business building experience and a strong track record. He was the Founding CEO for CRF Health, the global leader in electronic Patient Reported Outcomes technology and services for clinical R&D, today serving 18 of the top 20 pharmaceutical companies. At CRF Health, in addition to being part of implementing over 150 clinical trials, Ahopelto started two spin-outs in interactive drug marketing and corporate wellness technology. Prior to CRF Health, Ahopelto was Head of Strategy at Blyk, the world’s first ad-funded mobile operator, with key responsibilities in new country expansion, offering management, analyst relations and fund raising.
